Description
This chile ristra was hung outdoors near an old gate and at the corner of an adobe house, just outside the patio. It was probably hung here as a decoration. Certainly the red chiles look great with the weathered, turquoise painted wood. Chile (sometimes spelled chili because of confusion with the spicy meat and bean dish) pods are hung like this as a way to dry and preserve them. They can later be used as a spice.
